Stated as
Plain War Editorial is the shared byline every article on this site carries. It is an independently run project, not a newsroom: nobody here reports, and nothing on this site comes from a source of its own. Each article is one named podcast episode written down in plain language — the show, the episode and the date it was recorded are printed on the article and linked back, so a reader can go and hear the thing the page is about. Where an article explains a term, it explains it where the term is used rather than assuming it. Nothing here is an official, governmental or military account of anything.

What a byline here means

A name at the top of an article on this site is not the person who found something out. Nobody here reports. The claims in a piece belong to the show and the episode named in the stamp above the headline, on the date printed beside it.

What a byline does carry is responsibility for the writing down: that the article says what the episode said, that it does not sharpen a hedge into a certainty, that the show, the episode and the date are recorded correctly, and that when any of those is missing the article says so in plain words instead of quietly looking like an ordinary piece.

How this works sets out the rule an article has to meet, the three states the source stamp can be in, and what to do with a claim whose source is not recorded.
